Built by the owners Lucia & Imanol of natural stone the design blends in perfectly with the surrounding countryside. Set on 3 floors the standard rooms are simply furnished and clean and comfortable, and there is an apartment on the upper floor which is perfect for families.
As an added bonus for those that like beer, Imanol has created a small micro brewery and now produces award winner beers. There are no other hotels within miles of this establishment and it is possible to sit on the grassy lawn and look at the majestic Lammergeier’s joining in with the many Griffon Vultures flying over the mountain tops.
With traditional breakfasts and lovely dinners, local wine a beer Hotel Uson is a sheer delight and using the hotel as a base it is easy to visit many areas of the Pyrenees.
The higher parts of the Hecho valley play host to Lammergeier’s, Golden Eagles, Wallcreeper, Citril Finch, Alpine Chough, Chamois, Wild Boar plus many species of butterfly and alpine flowers. For those with lots of energy there are countless walks, and if you have a vehicle then it is easy to check out lower areas of the valley and many of the other valleys that crisscross this mountain range.
Mountain streams offer a refreshing dip in the summer, while Dippers and wagtails go about their business and carpets of wild flowers and orchids add colour. Many different species of butterflies can be seen during the summer and there is nothing more relaxing than watching these while taking a picnic on a grassy hillside.
