The country house has been constructed in wood, complimenting the serenity of the surrounding ambiance.A cozy and elegant rustic refuge, it offers the maximum in comfort while guests enjoy gourmet cuisine in complete union with the natural environment.In Sachatamia, guests may walk through a natural subtropical jungle, passing pristine rivers while enjoying and observing a variety of endemic trees, plant and wild flower species such as orchids, bromeliads, heliconias and anthuriums, among others.Recommendations: Rubber boots and rain-proof jacket. The lodge is not suited for children under the age of 12. We appreciate your understanding.

Sachatamia is a marvelous, private, ecological reserve exceeding 120 hectares of cloud-rain forest. Other habitats include recuperated forest, as well as forest undergoing the processes of reforestation.

Sachatamia has the privilege of being located next to the Protected Forest of Mindo-Nambillo an Important Bird Area (IBA). This zone is renowned as one of the foremost in terms of the wealth of biodiversity that is rich in flora and fauna. it has attained first place in the annual count of bird species on a global level.

One of the main attractions are the hundreds of bird species that inhabit the exuberant protected forest, aside from mammals such as the agoutis, ant-eaters, armadillos and deer.

Native plants and feeders in the gardens attract a multitude of colorful hummingbirds and tanagers. Up to 15 -20 species of hummingbirds have been recorded at our feeders including (Velvet Purple Coronet, Purple-bibbed Whitetip, Brown Inca, Violet-tailed Sylph, Gorgeted Sunangel and Empress Brilliant). The Banana feeders attract up to 7 species of tanager including Flame-faced and Saffron-crowned as well as Pale-mandibled Aracari and the beautiful Toucan Barbet.

One of the two "LEKS" (a place of courtship and reproduction among birds) registered in Ecuador as pertaining to the Long-wattled Umbrellabird (Cephalopterus penduliger), is found within the reserve. Nearby you can also visit a Cock-of-the Rock Lek, and a Club-winged Manakin Lek.

Recently an umbrellabird nest was discovered and the birth of an umbrellabird was witnessed by the scientific community.

Sachatamia has good access to the main road, making it a great base to explore the nearby reserves like the Mindo Nambillo Reserve, Los Bancos. Mashpi and both Milpe and Rio Silanche Sanctuaries. Angel Paz’s famous Antpitta Reserve is not very far away and we are just 2 hours away from Quito.
