Copalinga an orquids and tangers paradise!

We’d rather let our guests fully enjoy the songs of birds, the dripping of the rain on the leaves, the powerful sound of the river Bombuscaro, the near-touch with hummingbirds chasing each other, the spectacle of colorful tanagers, the silent flight of the marvelous butterflies, the powerful aroma of the Maxillaria splendens orchid, the greenness of the forest … in order to have you leaving with an unforgettable experience… and wanting to come back!

Copalinga is a small scale, family-run ecolodge which offers peace, privacy, and comfort in the natural setting and highly biodiverse environment. It is the perfect spot for nature lovers who appreciate a respite from the noise of modern society.

We have six individual first class cabins, each for two persons, built from beautiful local woods. All cabins have a bedroom, a private bathroom with hot shower and a deck with a view of the natural landscape.

Fruit feeders in front of the restaurant are filled with bananas just before breakfast and lunch are served, so that many tanagers and chachalacas will join you while you eat. The activity varies throughout the year, from just a few birds to a continuous coming and going all day long. The best months for bird activity on our feeders are usually January-March and August-October, although this can change from year to year.

A more recent attraction for bird watchers is the opportunity to observe the elusive Gray Tinamou in the late afternoon. At a 10 minute walking distance from the cabins, we constructed a blind, behind which we put out corn. The corn is eaten by the Gray Tinamous and others birds and mammals also come i
