Lodge Lodge

Nestled in the Western Andes of Colombia at 1600 meters/5600 feet above sea level, Araucana Lodge is a place to disconnect from your world and connect with nature. On 20 acres of Andean forest and vast flower gardens with a cool climate, our ten room eco-lodge is the perfect place to birdwatch, take leisurely walks and eat delicious meals from our organic farm to your table.

The lodge is located in the Cauca Valley state, one of the most diverse in the country with over 1,000 species. This is more than half of the species found in Colombia, yet the state only occupies 2% of the country’s landmass. This is due to the diversity of habitats, from the humid tropical forests of the Pacific lowlands, to the cloud forests and paramo ecosystems of the western and central Andes, to the wetlands and dry forests along the Cauca River in the valley. The lodge is strategically located to have easy access to some of the best birding sites in Colombia, allowing you to return to a comfortable bed and a homecooked

meal after a long day of birding. The lodge is run by our family, and rest assured you will be treated as a family member when you stay with us.

If you take a walk around the lodge grounds you can see a number of interesting species like the endemic Flame-rumped Tanager and Colombian Chachalaca. There are also a couple of fruit feeders and hummingbird feeders, so you can see species like the Blue-headed Sapphire and Purple-throated Woodstar.
