The only modern Bed and Breakfast located at the Cowles trailheads of the Pecos Wilderness high in the northern New Mexico mountains. Wilderness Gateway is open year round.
Just beyond our boundaries is the incredible Pecos Wilderness – 223,000 acres of pristine mountain wilderness, accented by high mountain lakes, expansive Rocky Mountain vistas, plentiful wildlife, gorgeous wild flowers, golden Aspen groves, tumbling rivers and literally hundreds of square miles of pine forests, sheer cliffs, babbling brooks, and sprawling meadows.
Located on the ground level of a custom log home, Wilderness Gateway offers our guests a unique opportunity
to enjoy the luxury of having cozy, comfortable accommodations for resting, eating, sleeping and relaxing while taking in the grandeur and enjoying the experiences of one of America’s last great remote wilderness areas.
This area in Northern New Mexico is great for birdwatching. Some of the species you can see around the area are Calliope Hummingbird and Pygmy Nuthatch.
